State Energy Efficiency Preparedness Index was launched in October 2018 by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE). This index assesses state policies and programmes aimed at improving energy efficiency across various sectors.
The index has 63 indicators coverings sectors like building, municipality, agriculture, transport and DISCOM.
The index groups states into four broad categories. These include Front Runner’, ‘Achiever’, ‘Contender’ and ‘Aspirant’.
The ‘Front Runner’ states in the inaugural edition of the Index are: Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Rajasthan based on available data.
